Paspanguwa (Herbal Remedy)

The traditional decoction is called “Paspanguwa” consisting of five plants. These are boiled in water to produce a decoction (‘Peyawa’). If you cant get your hands on Paspanguwa (check any local Indian / Sri Lankan store) or are not able to find all of the ingredients used in the traditional version, some of the essential ones are sure to be in your kitchen so give it a go if needed!

A calming and warming chai recipe

Try this spiced and sweet chai to stay warm and energised as we approach the end of Autumn and the start of Winter.. ​​​​​​

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups filtered water

  • 4 green cardamom pods (crushed)

  • 2 whole cloves

  • 1 whole star anise pods

  • 1 cinnamon sticks or 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp whole fennel seeds

  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)

  • 1 cup almond, rice or seed milk

  • Raw organic sugar or Sucanat
